Emergency crews rescued a trapped driver after a crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer in front of UR Medicine St. James Hospital.
Officials said the two-vehicle crash on Seneca Road North was reported at about 10 a.m. on Monday.
The North Hornell and Hornell fire departments responded, with EMTs evaluating and treating an individual trapped inside the wrecked car. St. James Hospital staff also provided medical assistance, according to officials.
Hornell Rescue 61 employed the Hurst Jaws of Life to extricate the patient, whose feet were entrapped. The person was freed within about 28 minutes, emergency officials said.
According to responders, patient care was transferred to LifeNet 7-7 Hornell. The injured motorist was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
Other details surrounding the crash were not immediately released and no other serious injuries were reported.
