How did the crash happen?

According to the FHP report, the sedan was traveling south on I-75 in the center lane. The driver changed lanes and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to travel off of the roadway and into the grass.

The vehicle collided with a tree and broke into two separate parts.

The driver and two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. One other passenger died later at the hospital and another passenger, 16-year-old Jefry Garcia was left in critical condition at the time.

The crash is still under investigation.

Who was in the car?

The driver, 18-year-old Edwin Jenri Garcia Ramos, and two 19-year-old men, Luis Garcia and Yony Garcia, were pronounced dead at the scene by rescue officials.

Karla Tol Martin, a 21-year-old passenger, was the passenger transported to a local hospital who later died.

An FHP official said his injuries are seemingly survivable, but TV stations are reporting that Jefry’s stepmother says the doctor is “not very hopeful.”

How can you help the victims’ family?

Jossie Macedo, a co-worker of the victims, started a GoFundMe to raise money for the affected family.

She says the victims were on their way to work before the crash.

“These four individuals who are named below were very hard working and dedicated individuals who did not deserve this,” Macedo wrote on the GoFundMe page. GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform.

The money raised through GoFundMe will go toward funeral costs. So far, the fundraiser has collected more than $3,580. There were 44 donations as of Tuesday (Sept. 17).
