A well-loved southern seafood restaurant and fish market in Myrtle Beach closed over the weekend, according to a Facebook post.
Cackalacky’s Fish Company at 400 S. Kings Highway closed for good on Sept. 15, employee Angela Green posted on Facebook.
“Today I went to work with a heavy and broken heart, sad trying to work and not want this night to end. Cackalacky Fish co. Is closing up. Tonight was our last night,” Green wrote in a post that was shared on social media.
The restaurant served fresh, fried and steamed seafood, including flounder, blue crab and oysters, reviews and pictures of the menu showed. Customers also found southern favorites like mac and cheese, hush puppies and collard greens.
It’s unclear why the restaurant closed. Green did not return a request to a comment and The Sun News was unable to get in contact with owner William Benfield.
Benfield opened Cackalacky’s in 2021 after previously running the Berry’s Seafood Market in North Myrtle Beach, The Sun News reported.
It was previously rated as one of the best spots to get fried fish and hush puppies in the Myrtle Beach area by The Sun News.
