UPDATE (3:36 p.m.) — The Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley has released additional information an a deadly crash that happened Thursday morning.
According to Hanley, a 62-year-old Pekin woman was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. Her name is being withheld while her family is being notified.
She was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
This incident remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police, the Tazewell County Sherriff’s and Coroners Offices.
SOUTH PEKIN, Ill. (WMBD) — One person is dead after a crash at the intersection of Illinois Route 29 and Thompson Street near South Pekin on Thursday.
According to the Illinois State Police, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at approximately 10 a.m. The crash was between a Toyota passenger car and a semi truck.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state police.

According to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department, Route 29 from Chester L road to South Pekin is closed due to a crash. They are expected to provide an update when the road reopens.
