Swans controlling the footy
The Swans have gone to tempo footy in an attempt to wind down the clock.
It’s working.
The scoring has slowed but the clock is fast reaching zero and Seven’s commentators are desperately working through their talking points to fill the air time.
Swans 95, Power 59 with three mins to play.
Rozee kicks a goal (nervous yet?)
The Power have kicked back-to-back goals for the first time tonight after Rozee boots one on the run.
Are you nervous yet Swans fans? I was about to write a post about the Swans protecting themselves from any last-minute injuries.
Now they need to hold off the Power.
Swans 93, Power 59 with nine mins to go.
Boak slams home a goal
If the Power are going to do something spectacular, Travis Boak has thrown the first sparker.
The veteran midfielder has booted a goal in game 371.
The Power have 11 minutes to kick seven goals.
Swans 92, Power 53 with 11 mins to go.
A week of ice buckets to come for McDonald
Seven commentator Matthew Richardson expects Logan McDonald will be able to play in next Saturday’s AFL grand final but he sees a chilly week to come, even before McDonald gets to Melbourne.
“He’s got a nice long week of ice buckets ahead of him,” Richardson said during commentary.
Heeney has booted another goal, surely that is it for the Power?
Swans 92, Power 47 with 13 mins to play.
McDonald limps off
Logan McDonald had a kick for goal just moments into the final term and he appeared to aggravate something in his foot, possibly his ankle.
He signaled to the bench as soon as he took his kick.
His night looks over as his boot is off and he is putting his ankle into an esky of ice which I’m sure is a wonderful feeling.
I imagine we will see Robbie Fox thrown into the game at any moment.
Swans 86, Power 46 with 16 mins to play.
Three-quarter-time stats
3QT: Sydney 13.7 (85) to Port Adelaide 6.9 (45)
That term felt like the winning one from the Swans as they grew their lead and the Power struggled to find meaningful responses.
There is still time for a resounding comeback in the last term.
But it will take something enormously special for the Power to win it from here.
Power make their sub
Jackson Mead has made way for sub Francis Evans who is into the game for the Power.
But before he can even get some grass on his boots, Warner has booted another goal following an error from the Power.
The Swans are ruthless on opposition errors, it fuels them.
Swans 85, Power 45 with two mins to go in Q3.
Dixon boots a goal
Maybe someone yelled over the fence and told Charlie Dixon that Jake Niall’s doesn’t think he’s their answer as a key forward?
Dixon has just booted his first goal of the night.
The Power have yet to use their sub and there was a question on whether the veteran forward would make way for him.
But that goal may keep him on the field.
Swans 78, Power 45 with four mins to go in Q3.
Papley with a hobble
Papley has booted yet another goal and he showed a bit of a hobble as he ran to the interchange bench.
It’s always hard to know what is real and what is acting when it comes to a master gamesman like Tom Papley.
I do think he could be tiring as he didn’t try to start any fights with any Power players after that goal – or at least Seven’s cameras didn’t show it if he did.
Swans 76, Power 39 with six mins to go in Q3.
