Man sentenced to 50 years in prison for crimes against children – MASHAHER

Sep. 21—tazewell, va. — A man who pleaded no contest last June to charges including aggravated sexual battery of a child has been sentenced to spend the next 50 years in prison, the Tazewell County Commonwealth’s Attorney said Friday.

Commonwealth Attorney J. Christopher Plaster said Friday that Dustin Allen Quesenberry, 21, of Bandy, Va. pleaded no contest on June 4 and was sentenced Thursday in the Tazewell County Circuit Court on two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13 and one count of rape of a child under 13 years of age. Quesenberry received 50 years to serve in the Virginia Department of Corrections and will be on indefinite probation upon release.

Kati Asbury, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, presented evidence to the judge at Quesenberry’s sentencing hearing and argued for the maximum sentence allowed for these crimes. Quesenberry presented character witnesses testimony and argued for a lesser sentence so he could have a second chance at life.

“I am grateful for the outcome in this case because it gives the three innocent children abused by this predator the justice they deserve. I would like to thank all of the agencies involved with the investigation and prosecution of this case. I am especially grateful for the courage these children had to come forward and their resilience throughout the process,” Kati Asbury said.

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case with Detective Michelle Conklin leading the investigation. The Tazewell County Victim/Witness Assistance Program provided crucial support throughout the process. April Morefield and the Care Center of Southwest Virginia and Ultra Health were instrumental in this conviction, Plaster said.
