KLUANG: The state government hopes to relocate two rural Tamil schools, which have a problem with low student numbers to the city area, says Johor Mentri Besar.
Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the SJKT Ladang Sembrong would be moved to Impian Emas in Kempas while SJKT Ladang Mados to Pulai Utara.
“We know about some Tamil schools with low student numbers. As such there is a need for more of such schools in the city areas,” he said during a major gathering of the Indian community in Mahkota.
There are more than 5,000 Indian voters in the constituency.
“We will also look into other issues affecting Tamil schools in Kluang as we know that education is important for the community,” he added.
In his speech, Onn also announced allocations for Indian NGOs totalling RM1mil, RM400,000 for a temple and other fundings for the community.
He also said that the state government has helped the community with allocations totalling RM16.9mil in the last two and a half years
“We have given millions for temples and also RM2mil to Yayasan Rogayah for the Indian community.
“We also gave RM5,000 for each school statewide for their teachers’ room,” he said, adding that they also managed to settle a long-standing issue about the building of a centre to perform final rights for the community in Johor Baru.
“We do not see colour when it comes to providing aid as all races here are Bangsa Johor,” he said, adding that it was important for everyone to stay united to ensure continued progress in the state.
He also requested the federal government for two new crematoriums for the people in Johor totalling RM5mil.
