Cases of lactose-free Lactaid Milk have been recalled, not because they might actually have lactose, but for something they’re not supposed to have.
The recall notice from manufacturer HP Hood says “routine maintenance programs … revealed the potential for trace amounts of almond.”
That’s no problem for most people, but as the FDA-posted recall notice says, “people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
From Sept. 5 through Sept. 18, the recalled Lactaid went out to retailers and wholesalers in Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Missouri, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
