Abhishek Agarwal, the producer of the sleeper blockbuster The Kashmir Files (2022) and Karthikeya 2 (2022), is gearing up for the release of several exciting projects. He spoke exclusively to Bollywood Hungama about these films and a lot more.

You are making G2 with Adivi Sesh. The first part, Goodachari (2018), worked big time in Hindi on digital. What can we expect from G2 and will it get a release in cinemas in dubbed Hindi version?
Yes, it’ll have a big release in Hindi. Goodachari ke baare mein toh kuch bolne ki zaroorat hi nahin. The sequel is going to be one of the best spy films to be made in Telugu. Even in Hindi, it is popular and has amassed a whopping viewership on YouTube. I got a lot of appreciation for the film from those who have seen its dubbed Hindi version. Keeping that in mind, we have decided to bring G2 in Hindi that too in cinemas. The concept this time is different, and I am sure it’ll be appreciated by people. Its budget has crossed Rs. 100 crores.
The underperformance of films like Tiger 3 and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has led to the perception that people are bored of watching slick action films. G2 is in the same zone. Does that worry you?
I don’t think I have anything to worry about. I have full faith in the content of G2. The rest depends on the mood of the aam junta. Until now, the audience hasn’t disappointed me (smiles).
What’s the release date of G2?
We haven’t locked any date. The shoot is still going on. We are going to shoot the film in 5 different countries in Europe, like Poland. Hence, it’ll be released only in 2025.
What’s the update on The India House?
We have completed one schedule of 25 days. 80% of the shoot is left and it’ll take place in the United Kingdom. This film will also be released in 2025.
After the successful The Kashmir Files, you and Vivek Agnihotri will be back with The Delhi Files…
The Delhi Files has a lot more pain and disturbing stuff as compared to The Kashmir Files. I am very confident of it; in fact, I would say that I am overconfident about the content of The Delhi Files. The research has been extensive. Vivek ji has spent more than two years on it. We had announced this film even before the release of The Kashmir Files. But we are taking time as it’s a project close to our hearts.
When will the film be released?
We’ll announce the date this week.
You are also making a film on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam…
It’s a project we have been wanting to make for a long time. We have worked a lot on the story. We have the official rights from Kalam ji’s family to make the film in all languages.
Who’ll be directing it?
Soon, we’ll make the announcement in a grand way. It’s one of the prestigious projects. It has taken a lot of time, and it’ll take more time to get the project on floors. I guess acchi cheezon ke liye samay lag jaata hai!
Your line-up also includes ‘a sensational biopic’. What film is this?
Agar main bol dunga, toh woh sensational rahega nahin (smiles).
Are you making a biopic on Vivek Agnihotri?
(Laughs) Woh zyada sensational ho jaayega!
Will we get to see Karthikeya 3?
100%. The director and actor are fulfilling their other commitments. Once they get done with those projects, we’ll be starting Karthikeya 3.
Is there any other project in the pipeline?
My writer is working on a script based on the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanvapi case. If the script comes out well, we’ll make a film on it.
