“All American” will look very different when it returns for Season 7.
While The CW previously announced that Daniel Ezra, who portrayed football phenom Spencer James in all six seasons, will not be back as a series regular, they’ve now confirmed that he’s not the only one. Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Asher), Karimah Westbrook (Grace James), Monét Mazur (Laura Baker) and Chelsea Tavares (Patience) are not returning as series regulars.
That means that only three original cast members will return full-time: Michael Evans Behling (Jordan), Greta Onieogou (Layla) and Bre-Z (Coop).
Ezra, for his part, will be back to direct and guest-star in Season 7 and “other fan-favorite OG characters” are expected to appear as guest stars.
Some of the exits were hinted at in the Season 6 finale; Olivia and Spencer got married, he won the Super Bowl and asked her to move to New York to live with him. Meanwhile, Jordan and Layla took over the deed to Laura’s house. Without Spencer in town, there wouldn’t be much for his mom, Grace, to do. Patience also landed a gig in New York City on Broadway.
Per the official logline, Season 7 will bring the drama “back to where it all began: Beverly Hills High and South Crenshaw High. It’s the same heart, same NFL dream, same crosstown rivalry, same messy hormones, ushered in by a new generation of L.A. teens, a new Beverly coach and our OG Vortex fam, who are surprised to find they’re supposed to be the responsible adults now.”
Antonio J. Bell and Alexis Chikaeze, who portrayed South Crenshaw students Khalil and Amina, have been upped to series regulars, while two new cast members have been added: Osy Ikhile as Beverly High’s new football coach Cassius Jeremy; and Nathaniel McIntyre as Jeremy’s son and the school’s new QB, Kingston Jeremy.
“All American” Season 7 will debut in 2025.
