Former school assistant fined RM20,000 for falsifying procurement documents – MASHAHER

MELAKA: A former clerical assistant of SMK(C) Yok Bin was fined RM20,000 by the Sessions Court here after the 54-year-old pleaded guilty to 10 alternative charges of falsifying procurement documents on behalf of a company owned by her daughter.

Judge Elesabet Paya Wan meted out the sentence on Nor Rafida Ab Kadir on Thursday (Sept 26).

The mother of three was sentenced under Section 471 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Based on the statement of facts, Nor Rafida was found to have misused the cheques from the school totalling RM15,221 in 2020, although the documents contained false particulars.

Nor Rafida submitted 10 payment vouchers containing false details for the supply and service work at the school to her daughter’s company, Amielyana Enterprise.

The offences were committed at a bank in Bukit Baru here from Oct 19 to Nov 23, 2020.

Prosecution was carried out by Deputy Public Prosecutor Fatin Nur Athirah Zainudin from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), while Nor Rafida was unrepresented.

The court imposed a fine of RM2,000 for each of the offences or, in default, 30 months in jail.

Nor Rafida later paid the fine.
