Director Rajesh Mapuskar’s Marathi movie Yek Number’s trailer launch was a star-studded affair. It saw the attendance of industry heavyweights like Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowariker, Avinash Gowariker, Sajid Nadiadwala, Warda Nadiadwala, Abhijat Joshi and Sajid Khan. Raj Thackeray, chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, has produced the film under the banner Sahyadri Films, which is handled by actress Tejaswini Pandit.
Rajkumar Hirani admits, “I doze off if a film gets boring even for 5-10 minutes, so I am scared of attending trial screenings”
During the event, when the mic was passed onto Hirani, he admitted that he was hesitant to attend the film’s trial screening due to a funny reason. “Whenever someone calls me for a trial screening, I get scared because I have this weird habit of dozing off if a film gets boring even for 5-10 minutes. Sajid bhai (Sajid Nadiadwala, who was sitting beside him) knows this. He once called me for a screening and I dozed off (laughs). It’s a genuine problem,” he said.
Sharing his experience of attending Yek Number’s screening, Hirani said, “I attended while getting scared thinking that I can’t just sleep off here. But I am telling you with all my heart that from the first frame till the last one, I kept watching the film like this (with wide open eyes). It’s an entertaining film. It says a very good thing about Maharashtra. The ends about which I was wondering (before the film) how they will meet, they all did. I called Rajesh. I spoke with him for half an hour; he was outside India. I told him that he has made such a different film after his last movie Ventilator (2016).”
Starring debutants Dhairya Gholap and Sayli Patil in lead roles, Yek Number will be releasing in theatres on October 10.
