Update, 8:37 p.m.:
PRICE, Utah (ABC4) — Five people have been confirmed deceased in Thursday’s multi-vehicle crash, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
On Sept. 26, a “multi-vehicle, multi-fatal crash” occurred on US-6 at milepost 235. A silver SUV was reportedly stopped on Spring Glen Rd. in Price.
The SUV attempted to pull out into the “designated acceleration lane,” according to a press release from the Dept. of Public Safety, but overshot the lane and went into lane number one, which was “occupied by a semi-truck pulling doubles.”
The semi-truck reportedly tried to evade the SUV and lost control, veering to the left into westbound traffic. The semi-truck then struck a Nissan SUV that was heading westbound, causing the SUV to go off the road into a rock embankment.
At the same time, another person was driving an ATV on the westbound shoulder and was struck during the collision. All four people inside the Nissan, as well as the rider of the ATV, were killed in the crash.
The driver of the silver SUV was reportedly checked out at a local hospital with minor injuries.
The identities of the deceased have not been released at this time.
