Glenview man arrested for aggravated battery, hate crime – MASHAHER


GLENVIEW, Ill. – A Glenview man was arrested for beating a person with a pipe and uttering a racial slur toward his victim.

The Glenview Police Department said at around 9:20 a.m. Friday, officers arrested 69-year-old Randy Velleff for an incident of aggravated battery on June 30 in the 1700 block of Grove Street.

The investigation revealed Velleff used a metal pipe to batter the victim during an argument in the parking lot. The victim was taken to Glenbrook Hospital where they were treated for bruising and released, according to investigators.

Police said Velleff also used a racial slur toward the victim.

Velleff has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and hate crime. He is scheduled to appear in court Saturday.
