Six months ago, the doors were locked, the drive-thru closed and the “hot” signs flicked off at two Krispy Kreme donut shops in South Mississippi.
At that time, in March 2024, the company said, “The two shops currently closed may reopen at a later date.”
Fans of Krispy Kreme coffee and donuts lost hope when the exterior signs were removed.
On Thursday the company confirmed the Ocean Springs and Gulfport locations are closed permanently.
“Along with our franchisees, we are always evaluating our retail footprint in regard to consumer trends and market dynamics. The two shops have permanently closed,” the company said, “and we look forward to continuing to serve guests at our Hattiesburg shop.”
That store is at 5006 Hardy St. in Hattiesburg.
“It is a privilege to be part of the MS Gulf Coast community and we are so grateful for our fans’ loyalty,” the company said in a statement to the Sun Herald.
Boxes of Krispy Kreme classic glazed donuts are available at local grocery and convenience stores, but to get the new maple butter creme, salted caramel cheesecake and other seasonal and favorites, people will have to drive to Hattiesburg or the other closest locations are on Hillcrest Road in Mobile, Alabama, and on Clearview Parkway in Metairie, Louisiana.
