The exit ramp that connects westbound U.S. 54 to southbound I-135 in Wichita will close on Monday Sep. 30.
The closure is for a project that involves milling, patching and a concrete overlay being placed on each side consecutively, the Kansas Department of Transportation said Thursday.
“Motorists should follow the signed detour on northbound I-135 to exit 6B and 2nd Street, then turn left on southbound I-135 to west Kellogg exit 6A,” according to KDOT.
This is the last phase of the bridge rehabilitation project taking this year at the I-135/U.S. 54 interchange. The work is expected to be done by late December.
Wichita-based Wildcat Construction is the primary contractor for the $1,348,537.60 project.
During construction, drivers should stay alert and watch out for construction workers. Road construction projects across Kansas can be seen at www.kandrive.gov or by calling 5-1-1.
