At least five jawans were injured when a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Sunday, police said. The incident occurred when a team of security personnel was out on a demining exercise from Chinngelur CRPF camp in the area.
During the exercise, carried out to trace IEDs and dispose them, officials spotted a wire connected to the pressure IED. The IED exploded when they were searching for it, causing splinter injuries to five officers.
After being provided preliminary treatment, the injured jawans were shifted to Bijapur district hospital, an official said, adding that their condition was out of danger.
Notably, two security personnel died, and four others were injured in an IED blast during an operation during an anti-Maoist operation in the forests of Bijapur.
