Fox Nation Taps Faith Programming With ‘God. Family. Football.’ – MASHAHER

Fox Nation is placing a small bet that a higher power can give it a new edge in TV’s never-ending streaming wars.

The subscription-based streaming outlet, part of Fox News Media, will release new seasons of the series “God. Family. Football.” The show, which explores the work of Pastor Denny Duron, a high school coach in Shreveport, Louisiana, previously was distributed through Amazon. Fox Nation,. plans to re-laounch the program with a eight previously unseen episodes that will appear on Friday nights, starting October 11. A second season is expected to debut in 2025.

Fox Nation aims to use the series to launch a new “Fox Faith” vertical showcasing religious content, says Lauren Petterson, president of the streaming service, in a statement. A documentary hosted, narrated and executive produced by famed director Martin Scorsese –“Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints” — will debut on Sunday, November 17. The initiative will run through the holiday season with the launch of “Jesus Crown of Thorns,” a docudrama produced in partnership with Nutopia, which will offer a new telling of the life of Jesus.

Once largely seeded with programming that tackled news and politics, Fox Nation has spent past years expanding into lifestyle and documentary programming. A month at Fox Nation might offer docu-series about national landmarks and parklands, or a suite of Clint Eastwood movies, all part of a bid to lure conservative viewers with series and films that might appeal to them. Fox has never stated publicly how many subscribers pay for the service.

“God. Family. Football” is was created by Aaron Benward and produced by Watershed Motion Pictures with executive producers Benward, Jared Goetz, Matt Woolsey, Cody Bess, Scott Brignac and Cliff Young.
