There were scary scenes during the Denver Broncos’ upset win over the New York Jets, with a player carted off on a stretcher.
Denver running back Tyler Badie was tackled by Jets linebacker Quincy Williams on the last play of the first quarter, with Williams’ helmet striking Badie in the lower back.
Badie walked OK to the sideline but once he was there, he was laid down on his back and attended too by medical staff for several minutes before he was taken off the field.
The Jets forced a turnover on the play when Badie fumbled the ball but it was one of the rare highlights of the day for the Jets, who didn’t cross the end zone during the upset 10-9 loss.

For Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it was the first time in his lengthy career that he failed to throw a touchdown pass in a loss.
Rodgers, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, was seen favouring the same leg late in the fourth quarter but he was able to finish the game.
The star quarterback blamed the offence and himself for the embarrassing loss.
“When your defence holds them to 10, you’ve got to win the game 100% of the time. That’s on the offence, that’s on me. Not good enough,” he said in the post-game press conference.
The Broncos win moves them to 2-2 and in the thick of the race in the AFC West, while the Jets drop to 2-2.
Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a staggering -8 passing yards up until deep into the second quarter before finishing the game with just 60.
He did however throw his first NFL touchdown pass with wide receiver Courtland Sutton the beneficiary. That would be the game’s only touchdown.
CHIEFS FACING HORROR BLOW
Star Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice could be facing a long stint on the sideline after leaving Kansas City’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a knee injury.
The way Rice picked up the injury was in bizarre fashion, colliding with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, with both players trying to make a tackle on a Chargers defender following a Mahomes interception.
Mahomes went low in an effort to tackle the Chargers ball carrier but inadvertently collected Rice’s knee in an ugly collision.
Rice’s right knee looked to have hyperextended and he had to be helped to a cart and driven off the field.

If Rice does receive bad news, it will be a brutal blow for the Chiefs given that the second year pass catcher has been lighting it up this season.
Entering Week 4, Rice led the league in catches (24) and was second in receiving yards (288).
Later in the game, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce surpassed Kansas City legend Tony Gonzalez for most receptions in franchise history (917 and counting).
Kelce has been quiet so far this season, but against the Chargers, he enjoyed his best game of the season.
SURPRISE PACKETS KEEP ON SHOCKING
Two teams that most believed wouldn’t threaten this season were the Minnesota Vikings and Washington Commanders.
The Vikings lost gun QB Kirk Cousins in the offseason and there were questions mark on offence, however journeyman QB Sam Darnold is playing like an MVP candidate and Minnesota’s defence is one of the best in the league.
The Vikings moved to 4-0 with a win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday morning (AEST), continuing their unexpected hot start.
Darnold was again terrific, as was the game’s best receiver in Justin Jefferson, who had an insane one hand touchdown grab.
If Minnesota’s 4-0 record is the most shocking so far this season, Washington’s 3-1 early mark isn’t far behind.
The Commanders, who owned the second worst record in the league last season and are going through a rebuild with a new head coach and quarterback at the helm, destroyed the Arizona Cardinals 42-14.
Said quarterback Jayden Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, has been a revelation for Washington.
Daniels was so efficient throwing the ball while proving such a handful for opposition defences as a runner.
The rookie is already breaking records.
His 82.1% passing accuracy is the highest ever mark in NFL history through four games.
In fact, he’s accounted for nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns after the past two weeks.
BRADY’S EPIC BURN ON BUCS QB – New York Post
Tom Brady reunited with his former team on a football field — though, he’s not back to playing… yet at least.
The seven-time Super Bowl Champion was also watching his Tampa Bay Buccaneer successor Baker Mayfield absolutely put it on the Philadelphia Eagles, engineered a 24-7 halftime lead.
The Buccaneers would go on to win 33-16 as Mayfield threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns.
Earlier this week, Mayfield discussed the difference between his and Brady’s quarterbacking styles.
Mayfield had said the Bucs told him, “They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the joy back to football for guys who weren’t having as much fun.”
Brady responded on the broadcast in kind as the quote was presented on the Fox broadcast.
“I thought stressful was not having Super Bowl rings,” Brady said in the booth, replying to Mayfield’s comment. “There was a mindset of a champion that I took to work every day. This wasn’t daycare. If I wanted to have fun, I was going to go to Disneyland with my kids.”
Encouraged by play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt to continue, Brady added more, explaining his process, and why “fun” wasn’t necessarily valuable to him — not as a substitute for winning, anyway.
“There’s a way to approach this game,” Brady said, “And it’s that with the right mindset and try to push each other outside of our comfort zone and great teammates do that. You come in, I have teammates like (Rob) Gronkowski, I have someone like (Mike) Evans, there’s high expectations for us, we’ve got to make sure we go out and deliver.”
Burkhardt replied, “The competitive juices, still flowing.”
Added Brady, “They’re still in there. No apologies.”
Earlier in the week, Mayfield said in reference to the difference between his tenure with Tampa and the one led by Brady between 2020 and 2022, that, “the building was a little bit different with Tom in there.”
Mayfield continued, “Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialled in, high-strung environment, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out.”
Brady would, of course, hold up his Super Bowl ring as the conversation ender here, being that he helped lead the Bucs to one during his three seasons, and it’s only the second in the franchise’s history.
