Analysis
The only real surprise on the Wild Card roster is the addition of Kranick, who had been fighting for a potential spot on the Opening Day roster during spring training before a hamstring injury in late February landed him on the IL to start the season.
The 27-year-old pitched 41 games for Triple-A Syracuse this season, including four starts, while posting a 3.57 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
There had also previously been some speculation that Winker may not make the roster, given the fact that he hasn’t played since Sept. 27 and is reportedly dealing with a potential back issue.
On the pitching front, Tylor Megill did not make the roster, but that was expected after the right-hander started on Monday in Atlanta.
Additionally, the Mets are going with just one left-hander in the bullpen (Young).
