A North Texas man purchased a signed Taylor Swift guitar at a charity auction and proceeded to destroy it in what was apparently a political protest against the singer’s support of Kamala Harris.

According to WFAA News, the man purchased the guitar for $4,000 during an auction held at the Ellis County Wild Game Dinner in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday. Video of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the man walking up to the guitar and proceeding to smash it with a hammer.

A spokesperson for  Ellis County Wild Game told WFAA told the man’s actions weren’t “meant to be mean or malicious. He was just making a lighthearted statement showing disapproval of people in the entertainment industry trying to influence politics.”

“It was just a funny thing that happened at our annual event. The crowd thought it was hilarious,” the spokesperson added. “The important thing is that 100% of the money raised goes directly to local youth and agricultural education programs. At the end of the day, the kids win and will benefit from this.”

It’s unclear if this is what Donald Trump meant when he warned that Swift would pay a price for her support of Harris. One thing that is evident, however: since Swift announced her endorsement, voter registration is way up.
