BOURBON COUNTY, Kan. — A former Uniontown teacher charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student gets a plea deal on lesser charges.
Tuesday morning in a Bourbon County courtroom, Breanna Hampton, 25, entered an Alford plea to a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor for illicit purposes. As part of her plea, a charge of unlawful sexual relations with a minor student was dropped.
An Alford plea means Hampton admits the state has enough evidence against her to convict her if the case were to go to trial.

She’s scheduled to be sentenced in December. Hampton faces anywhere from five to 17 months in prison.
She was arrested back in February after the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office said she was having an inappropriate relationship with a student. At the time, she was a teacher in the Uniontown School District. She has since been let go from the school. School administrators say the inappropriate behavior did not happen at school.
