COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (ABC4) — A woman was arrested Tuesday evening for the alleged murder of her husband, who was first reported missing after he was last seen on Sept. 20.
Jennifer Gledhill, 41, was arrested for one count of murder, a first-degree felony; and one count of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.

Her husband, Matthew Johnson, was a member of the United States Military Special Operations Unit and was last seen “on or about” Sept. 20, according to a Tuesday press release from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department.
Between Sept. 20 and Sept. 21, police said witnesses reported an argument between Johnson and Gledhill. Officials believe Johnson died of a gunshot wound.
“It is known that the couple had been considering divorce since July of this year and that they have three minor children, aged 11, 7, and 5 years,” Cottonwood Heights Police said in a press release Tuesday.
Police were informed of the crime on Sept. 28, and said investigators found “significant physical and digital evidence” to support the arrest of Gledhill.
“We want to express our heartfelt sympathy to the families, especially to the Johnson children,” Sgt. Gary Young said in a press release. “These unfortunate tragedies tear apart the fabric of our families.”
Gledhill was booked into the Salt Lake County Adult Detention Center on the aforementioned charges. Police said the murder charge could carry a penalty of five years to life in prison; the obstruction of justice charge could result in one to 15 years in prison.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office released a statement after Gledhill’s arrest:
The Salt Lake County District’s Attorney’s Office is aware of the arrest of Jennifer Gledhill by the Cottonwood Heights Police Department on suspicion of the alleged murder of her husband Matthew Johnson. The matter will be screened for any charges, as is our protocol.”
