Peter Laviolette Set To Talk With Management Today About Final Roster Cuts – MASHAHER

The preseason is officially over and the New York Rangers are days away from the start of the regular season.

There are some big roster decisions to be made as the Rangers suffered a couple of critical injuries through the course of training camp.

On the offensive side of things, Jimmy Vesey’s lower-body injury opens one extra roster spot.

The forwards fighting to make the opening night lineup include Sam Carrick, Matt Rempe, Jonny Brodzinski, Adam Edström and Brennan Othmann.

Meanwhile, Ryan Lindgren is week-to-week with an upper-body injury leading to an unexpected available slot on the team’s blueline.

Victor Mancini, Chad Ruhwedel, Connor Mackey and Matthew Robertson are all possible candidates to fill Lindgren’s spot.

With the season starting on Wednesday, Rangers coach Peter Laviolette will make his final roster cuts in the next two days and he already seems to know what direction he’ll ultimately go in.

“We’re going to go back and we’ll talk tomorrow… I think we’ve got a pretty good idea on where we’re going, but the coaches will talk. I’ll meet with Chris and we’ll make sure that we get the right guys going into the season,” Laviolette said after Friday night’s preseason game.

Artemi Panarin is also listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury and right now it’s not yet clear if he will be ready to start the 2024-25 campiagn, which can impact these upcoming roster cuts.

It’s been an eventful training camp for the Rangers, but now it’s finally time to play meaningful hockey.
