Update on £3m road scheme including night closures – MASHAHER

More details on the next stage of work taking place on a Lincolnshire road have been released.

Dysart Road in Grantham is being completely rebuilt at a cost of £3m.

Lincolnshire County Council said they would be starting footway works on the north of the site this month, from the rail bridge to Barrowby Gate, and would continue with drainage repairs, channel repairs and kerbing works.

The council also said it would begin night-time resurfacing and road reconstruction work on the carriageway, starting at the railway bridge and heading west.

The authority said there will be night-time work taking place next month, leading to traffic restrictions and closures.

The section between Trent Road to Low Road, just west of the A1 overbridge, will be closed between 19:00 to 06:00 GMT for two weeks starting Tuesday 5 November.

The roadworks are running simultaneously with improvement works in Market Place and Station Road.

Tim Harrison, chairman of the town council, said the works had been “badly planned”.

Residents have complained of “traffic chaos”, and a petition calling for action has attracted more than 500 signatures.

Richard Davies, executive member for highways at the county council, said it made no sense to delay.

The project began on 29 July and involves a full closure of the westbound carriageway for five months.
