FLORIDA (WJBF) – The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA) has advised evacuees from Florida NOT to come to the CSRA.
According to their Facebook post, the agency is suggesting those leaving the sunshine state due to Hurricane Milton to visit other city in Georgia, including:
-
Albany
-
Columbus
-
Macon
-
Atlanta
They do advise travelers to call ahead as resources in South Georgia are limited.
Georgia State parks are open for RVs and Campers, so please visit gastateparks.org/Alerts for more information.
Plan your evacuation routes accordingly, and stay safe! For more information, visit gema.georgia.gov.
Hurricane Milton rapidly strengthened into a Category 5 hurricane, the strongest level, in the Gulf of Mexico on Monday on a path toward Florida, threatening a dangerous storm surge in Tampa Bay and setting the stage for potential mass evacuations less than two weeks after a catastrophic Hurricane Helene swamped the coastline.
