ASHOK NAGAR: In a shocking incident, a Dalit couple in their sixties was reportedly assaulted and humiliated in Kilora village, located in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar district. According to the police, the couple’s son was allegedly involved in an eve-teasing incident, which led to the family leaving the village.
Gabbar Singh Gurjar, the in-charge of Mungaoli police station, stated that the couple had recently returned to the village.On Friday, the accused allegedly tied the 65-year-old man Dalit man and his wife aged 60 to a pole, beat them up and made them wear garlands of shoes.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim woman, the police registered a case against 10 individuals on Saturday. The charges against them include rioting, unlawful assembly with common objective, voluntarily causing hurt, obscene act, and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been invoked.
The police have stated that all the accused are currently absconding, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. The incident has sparked outrage and demands for swift action against the perpetrators of this heinous act against the elderly Dalit couple.
