PETALING JAYA: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his foreign minister, missing after their helicopter crashed en route from the border with Azerbaijan in Iran’s north-west, is continuing despite bad weather.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said any updates would be posted on Wisma Putra’s official social media accounts, and prayed for good news.
“Received news about the incident of the helicopter (carrying) Seyyed Ebrahim and Dr Hossein Amirabdollahian a few hours ago.

“I have been closely following developments. It is learnt that the SAR mission is continuing despite bad weather.
“I pray that those involved are found soon and are safe.
“Hopefully, good news will arrive soon,” he said in a statement on Monday (May 20).
Iranian state media reported earlier that the helicopter crashed on Sunday (May 19) owing to bad weather that was also complicating rescue efforts.
