Canada’s women’s volleyball team redeemed its Tuesday loss to the United States, beating Germany in the second game of Week 2 of Volleyball Nations League play in Arlington, Texas.
The Canadians won in straight sets 25-20, 25-15 and 25-22, improving to 4-2 and dropping Germany to 1-4 on the season.
“We took care of business today,” said Canadian head coach Shannon Winzer.
Captain Alexa Gray led with 19 points and a 37.5 per cent efficiency rate. Kiera Van Ryk and Emily Maglio followed closely behind with 15 points each. Germany’s Lena Stigrot led the losing team with just 11 points.
Canada finished the match with more attacks (54-40) and blocks (8-3), while Germany generated more digs (74-71) and committed less unforced errors (11-6).
The Canadians will next play Serbia on Friday.
