Riding on critical acclaim and all around positive word of mouth amongst the audience, Chandu Champion grew well on Saturday. The ticket rates had also come back to normal and that means there was always a risk of footfalls going down, as has been the case with many movies in the last few months that have adopted this strategy. However, on the contrary, Chandu Champion jumped quite well, which shows that ticket prices are never a deterrent if a film is well made.
In the hindsight, tickets could well have been kept at regular prices even on Friday and perhaps the collections could have emerged as even better. Reason being that morning and afternoon shows anyways didn’t benefit much from Rs. 150 ticket rate offer and those who came in the evening and night shows could as it is have come since this one is a multiplex film with urban audience as its prime base. In this segment, ticket rates don’t really have much role to play.
That was seen in Saturday numbers which zoomed to Rs. 7.70 crores. Now that would actually have been an ideal number on Friday, and not Rs. 5.40 crores, which had actually come in. Nonetheless, what has happened has happened and now it’s all about carrying forward the momentum. The collections need to keep going strong today as well and ideally at least 30% more jump should come in, something that will take it into a double digit zone. Once that happens then the film can take further advantage of the partial holiday of Eid tomorrow.
So far, the Kartik Aaryan starrer stands at Rs. 13.10 crores and the endeavor would be to go past the Rs. 30 crores mark by close of Monday and then build further from there.
