Renowned actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh recently opened up about a childhood incident in an interview with YouTuber Raj Shamani, where he nearly ran away from home at the tender age of 8. The reason behind this impulsive act was a girl from his school, who he thought he would marry after a senior prompted him to confess his feelings.

The schoolyard confession
Diljit recounted, “When I was in school, my seniors were randomly asking us, ‘Tereko kaun ladki pasand hai?’ I pointed towards this girl and said, ‘I like her.’ So, my senior was like, ‘Go confess it to her and then you will get married to her only.’ I was like okay. I went to the girl and told her that you and I will get married. She went and complained to my teacher and my teacher was like ‘Go get your parents.’”
The escape plan
Faced with the prospect of involving his parents, a young Diljit decided to flee. He recalled, “I opened the fridge, picked two bananas, some other fruits, and took my cycle and just left. I just went five minutes away from my house when one of the villagers yelled at me and asked me to go back home.”
Village discipline
He explained that it was common for villagers to discipline children, saying, “Earlier, in villages, it was never like nobody apart from parents can yell at you. It was very common for the villagers to yell and shout at kids in the village, they were all like a family, they sometimes even slapped. So, this man made me return home when I tried to leave.” The next day, Diljit avoided school by feigning a stomach-ache and stayed home for two days. His teacher, perhaps understanding the gravity of his embarrassment, let him go.

On the professional front, Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in Amar Singh Chamkila. He is set to star in the upcoming film Jatt & Juliet 3. Additionally, fans can look forward to seeing him on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, alongside Eddie Murphy and Matty Matheson.
