Chandu Champion has received immense acclaim and Sumit Arora, one of the writers on the Kartik Aaryan-starrer, is obviously on cloud nine. He has been flooded with positive feedback ever since the film was released. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, he opened up about the most memorable feedback he has got.
EXCLUSIVE: Chandu Champion writer Sumit Arora talks about Javed Akhtar’s touching feedback: “I’ve taken a screenshot of this message and will cherish it for the rest of my life”
Sumit Arora revealed that Javed Akhtar sent him a couplet by reputed poet, Ahmad Mushtaq. Sumit said, “The feedback that I’ll cherish the most is from Javed Akhtar saab. He saw the film with Shabana ma’am. For some reason, I couldn’t make it to that screening. But the next day, he messaged me.”
Sumit Arora opened his phone to read out the message to this writer, “It says, “Congratulations, Sumit! Here’s a sher of someone for you: ‘Naye deewano ko dekhe toh khushi hoti hai. Hum bhi aise hi the jab aaye the veerane mein’!”
Sumit Arora continued, “I’ve taken a screenshot of this message and I am going to cherish it for the rest of my life! For me, he’s a legend whose writing I’ve always admired. Hence, to hear something like this from him means the world to me (smiles).”
Chandu Champion, directed by Kabir Khan, is based on the incredible life of Murlikant Petkar. At another point in the interview, Sumit Arora also shared another memorable reaction saying, “A friend took her mother, who’s in a wheelchair, to watch the film. My friend had already seen it last week and she decided to take her mother as she felt that the film depicted people with special abilities in a dignified manner. She appreciated the fact that we didn’t have a sympathetic view. Her mother especially thanked me. It was the longest feedback I have ever received!”
