Former India Today journalist Pankaj Khelkar, who served as the Associate Editor of the Pune Bureau, died on Monday after suffering a heart attack. He was 54.
His funeral is set to take place on Wednesday.
Khelkar studied television journalism at Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication in 1995. He started working for the TV Today Group as a stringer in 1997 and later joined the group as a correspondent.
Prior to studying journalism, Khelkar had also dabbled in photography.
Vidya, who is a legal reporter for India Today, recalls Khelkar as a one-man army, who reported, took interviews, edited and made his news videos to be put out on the channel.
Khelkar was possibly the only India Today reporter who posed with former US President Donald Trump.
His work comprises wide-ranging interviews and news pieces from farmers to presidents. His enthusiasm for news was commendable and admirable for how he wrote his news pieces.
Khelkar will always be remembered for his calm and composed conversations and news reports, which reflected his vibrant persona.
