Rain jacket needed for 4th of July plans today! – MASHAHER

The Latest Northeast Wisconsin Forecast from Storm Team 5…

Good morning and Happy 4th of July! This early morning we will see sunshine, but clouds will be building in throughout the morning. Into the afternoon, when the grill is going of course, there is a chance of a few isolated showers, but most will stay cloudy and dry. Highs today in the low to mid 80s, slightly cooler lakeside with a light east wind. Muggy dew points return once again today.

This evening is when our rain chances increases as a weakening first wave of showers and heavier downpours arrives. Widespread rain chances increase, unfortunately, right around the time fireworks celebrations begin as a second wave works in along a cold front.

The big question is will the fireworks be affected and it looks like some will get lucky and others will not. It all depends on where the steadiest rain with the highest chance of thunderstorms sets up. This mornings data shows some promise as it looks that will stay west the Valley, but there is a chance of some scattered showers with light to moderate rain and maybe a grumble of thunder will be around our area.

Thunderstorm chances for us increase overnight, severe weather risk remains low but a storm producing gusty winds, heavy rain and small hail is possible.

This system will pinwheel around the Western Great Lakes Friday and will weaken, but it will bring rounds of scattered showers and storms producing more heavy rain and a brief gust of wind. Highs much cooler in the upper 60s and low 70s. Rainfall totals today through Friday evening will sit around 1-2″. Friday evening plans look to be a go with rain and clouds tapering.

Saturday a weak ridge of high pressure arrives and keeps us mostly sunny and dry, but later in the day since we will still be humid, a quick pop up shower is possible but not the most likely. Highs tomorrow back in the mid and upper 70s.

Sadly, rain chances continue Sunday and Monday before it becomes more isolated in coverage Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures remain in the 70s to near 80 with a touch of humidity.
