‘Presumed Innocent’ Renewed for Season 2 at Apple – MASHAHER

“Presumed Innocent” has been renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+.

The streamer claims that the show is the most-viewed drama in the platform’s history since its premiere on June 12, although it should be noted that Apple does not provide viewership information to back up that claim.

The renewal news comes ahead of the season finale on July 24. Per Apple, the new season will focus on an entirely new case. Apple is not confirming if Gyllenhaal will return to star in the second season, depending on the events of the season finale.

“Presumed Innocent” is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow. Gyllenhaal stars in the series as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor who is accused of the murder of one of his colleagues. The cast also includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, and Renate Reinsve.

David E. Kelley serves as showrunner and executive producer via David E. Kelley Productions, with Matthew Tinker of DEKP also executive producing. J.J. Abrams and Rachel Rusch Rich executive produce via Bad Robot Productions. Gyllenhaal executive produces under his Nine Stories banner. Season 1 of “Presumed Innocent” is also executive produced by Thomason and Sharr White. Turow and Miki Johnson serve as co-executive producers. The first season is directed and executive produced by Anne Sewitsky and Greg Yaitanes. Warner Bros. Television, where Bad Robot is under an overall deal, is the studio.

“Presumed Innocent” has received positive reviews from critics since its release. In her review for Variety, Aramide Tinubu wrote, “Entirely watchable, ‘Presumed Innocent’ is one of the best legal thrillers to arrive on television in years.”
