According to Le Parisien, Patrice Evra has been provided with a 12-month suspended prison sentence by the Nanterre Criminal Court for abandoning his family and has been ordered to pay his wife €4000 for moral damages and €2000 for legal fees.
The retired Manchester United and France player was accused of missing €969,000 in alimony payments. However, Evra’s lawyers have informed the French outlet that the “facts are disputed” and that the former player has “filed an appeal.”
Evra and his wife, Sandra Evra, initiated divorce proceedings in 2020 after images of the ex-Manchester United fullback kissing the Danish model Margaux Alexandra were published by the Daily Mail. However, the divorce has not yet been finalised.
Patrice Evra’s former trouble with the courts
Last year, Evra was fined €1000 by the Paris police court for homophobic insults after saying a homophobic insult in 2019 on his social media following Manchester United’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
