Technology has run into some turbulence and major airlines around the world reported systems outages Friday that were disrupting their operations.
Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers and Punta Gorda Airport in Charlotte County were experiencing flight delays and cancellations Friday morning.
On Facebook, Southwest Florida International was advising travelers to check with their carrier on the status of flights.
One post said: “Flights on several airlines have been delayed or cancelled at RSW this morning (July 19) due to global technology outages. Please check with your airline for the latest information.”
And another post just after 7 a.m. said: “Some American Airlines fights at RSW are now operating. Please check with your airline for the most up-to-date information.”

In the U.S., American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines were among those who grounded flights less than an hour after Microsoft said it resolved a cloud-services-related outage that impacted several low-cost carriers.
It was not immediately clear whether the call to keep flights from taking off was related to the Microsoft cloud outage.
