Two killed in head-on collision in Batu Pahat – MASHAHER



BATU PAHAT: Two drivers died when their cars collided head on at KM103 along Jalan Johor Baru-Melaka near Tanjung Labuh here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police were notified about the incident at around 11.40pm on Friday (March 15) night.

“One of the victims has been identified as Chin Sio Mei, 43, who was coming from Rengit heading towards Batu Pahat.

“When the car she was driving arrived at the scene, another car driven by Mohammad Ariff Azeem Ahmad, aged 22, came from the opposite direction and entered her lane causing both cars to crash head on into one another,” he said here on Saturday (March 16).

ACP Ismail added that due to the collision, both drivers died at the scene due to severe injuries sustained.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act and urged witnesses to come forward and lodge a report at the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a 17-year-old motorcyclist died after hitting a piece of wood at KM31.5 along the Senai-Desaru Expressway.

Seri Alam OCPD Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the incident occurred at around 12.30am on Saturday (March 16).

“The victim, who is a local, was riding his motorcycle to return to his home near Sungai Tiram when he hit a piece of wood on the road causing him to fall.

“The impact from his fall caused serious injury, which resulted in his death at the scene.

“His body has been brought to Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru for a postmortem,” he said, adding that road users should always stay vigilant while on the road.
