Chennai woman arrested for forcing minor sister into prostitution – MASHAHER


The Chennai Police has arrested six people and detained two others for forcing a 14-year-old girl into prostitution. The girl’s sister was among the people arrested by the police.

The girl lived in Chemmencheri and moved to Paduvanchery to live with her sister. According to the police, the sister and her mother-in-law forced her into prostitution and used to take her to various locations, including KK Nagar and Chengalpattu.

The police were alerted by a child welfare committee in Chengalpattu, following which a special team was formed by Selaiyur All Women Police and the girl was rescued.

Based on the call records and investigation, the police arrested six people — Lakshmi, Prakash, Damodharan, Kavita, Karpagam and Srinivasan. They have been charged under the provisions of

Two more suspects have been detained and are being questioned in relation to the case.

Further investigation is underway.

Recently, seven people were arrested from Chennai for coercing school girls into prostitution in May.

According to sources, the main accused, K Nadhiya, coerced the classmates of her daughter by becoming friends with them under the pretext of teaching them beautician courses.

She then allegedly exploited the children’s economic backgrounds and offered to pay them between Rs 25,000 and Rs 35,000, involving them in prostitution for elderly men, mainly from Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
