The Bohemia Mining District and Fairview Peak area moved from a Level 1 evacuation order to a Level 2 evacuation status Wednesday morning due to the Lane 1 Fire burning southeast of Cottage Grove, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Level 2 means residents in the area should be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice, and this may be the only notification they receive.
The Lane 1 Fire was measured at 1,932 acres Tuesday afternoon and had burned a large swath of the mountainsides south of Disston, a rural community about 40 miles southeast of Eugene. The fire had not been measurably contained.

Areas east of Disston starting at Brice Creek Road milepost 0.7 and following Brice Creek Road south remained at a Level 1 evacuation status, which meant local residents should be aware of the danger in the area and monitor local media outlets and telephone devices for updates.

The temperature forecast near Cottage Grove was forecasted to remain in the 80s to high 90s through the remainder of the week.
