Renowned actor Abhishek Banerjee recently opened about a deeply personal yet ironically funny connection to his latest character in the highly anticipated film, Stree 2. Banerjee, known for his versatile roles, portrays Jana, an IAS aspirant. Interestingly, much before Abhishek’s cinematic success, his father desired him to become an IAS officer. Reflecting on this connection, Abhishek shared, “My father always wanted me to pursue a career as an IAS officer. While my heart was always set on acting, this role in Stree 2 feels like my father’s dream has never left my side. Playing Jana, who aspires to be what my father wished for me, is genuinely sweet yet funny.” This unique blend of real-life aspirations and reel-life portrayal adds a humorous twist to his journey, making it even more special.
Honouring his father’s wishes
Abhishek’s father always envisioned him as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, a prestigious and noble profession in India. Although Abhishek chose the creative field of acting, he finds a unique way to honour his father’s dream through his character in Stree 2. “My father and I still laugh about it. Being his son, I found unique ways to realize his dreams, if not in reality, at least on screen,” he added.
The irony of success
Banerjee humorously remarked on his character’s chances of success, saying, “Seeing Jana’s struggles with the IAS exam preparation makes me doubtful that he would have ever cracked it in his life. But I’m glad I could at least embody that ambition in a film.” This statement not only showcases Abhishek’s wit but also highlights the irony of his situation – achieving his father’s dream in a fictional world while finding success in his own chosen field.
