17-year-old arrested after fiery crash on Germantown Parkway – MASHAHER


MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 17-year-old was taken into custody after a fiery crash on Highway 64 and North Germantown Parkway Thursday morning.

MPD says the crash happened a little after 6:30 a.m. Officers were told that a 2017 Infiniti had been stolen from the 5200 block of Knight Arnold Road, and the owner of the vehicle was tracking the car to the area of Germantown Parkway and Trinity Road.

Police say the victim and his friend drove to the area and found the stolen car driving northbound on Germantown Parkway. They followed the car to Giacosa Place, where the suspect allegedly shot at them three times.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and struck a pole and another car.

He reportedly fled from the crash and was later found by the Bartlett Police Department hiding in a nearby dumpster.

MPD says he did not have a driver’s license.

The 17-year-old was charged with Theft of Property $10,000-$60,000, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Duty Upon Striking Fixtures, Driver to Exercise Due Care, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and No Driver’s License.

No injuries were reported, police say.
