RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A star Texas athlete transferring to North Carolina Central University has died.
Terrance Howard was moving from the University of Alabama to Durham to join the N.C. Central football team.
During the North Carolina portion of his trip, Howard was hit by a vehicle near Salisbury on July 22nd.
The Texas native was moving to the Triangle after securing a full scholarship to play for N.C. Central.
According to the football player’s family, Howard was involved in a minor wreck on Interstate 85. Howard was hit by another car when he got out to check on the other driver involved in the initial crash, his family said.
Howard died in a Charlotte hospital on Thursday, August 1.
