The Alexander Mountain Fire, which was first detected at 10:39 a.m. July 29, was determined to be human caused, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
It was initially reported there were five lightning strikes in the area of Alexander Mountain, which was also suspected as a possible cause. As investigators visited the point of origin last weekend, neither cause type was ruled out at the time.
“Investigators are particularly interested in information about anyone who was in the area immediately east and below the peak of Alexander Mountain, photos of the fire between 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. on July 29, 2024, and information from anyone who spends time in the Alexander Mountain area,” an email update from the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland says.
Forest Service wildland fire investigators are working with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office to investigate this and request that anyone with information call the Forest Service Law Enforcement Tip line at (303) 275-5266. In addition, photos, videos and statements can also be uploaded online.
