Shah Rukh Khan ADMITS cheating in exam to watch a movie with his mother; talks about developing interest in cinema
Shah Rukh Khan’s Early Connection with Cinema
In a heartfelt reflection, Shah Rukh Khan shared a personal story about how his love for cinema was nurtured during his childhood. “Maa ke kadmo ke niche Jannat hoti hai! That’s what my mother told me every time and said, press my feet. So at night, I would press her feet. When I did that to put her to sleep, the television movies used to go on. We used to get old movies for Rs 1 or 2 and new movies for Rs 10. So we just watched movie after movie, and I started liking films then.”
Khan’s passion for movies deepened when his mother offered him a deal: “There was an exam in Hindi, the local language. Normally kids are good at it, but I was in an Irish School—very Christian, very strict, very English-speaking. Hindi was not my strongest point. Then my mom said she would take me to a movie hall to watch a film if I got 10/10 in Hindi dictation. I have never said this, but I will admit it now—I think I copied one answer from a friend. But I did get 10/10. And then my mother took me to a theatre to watch a film for the first time.”
Besides this, Shah Rukh also confirmed that his next film is with Sujiy Ghosh, titled King.
