Condolences pour in for the late Rozaid Rahman – MASHAHER



PETALING JAYA: Condolences from Cabinet ministers are pouring in for the late Rozaid Abdul Rahman (pic), the media and strategic communications director at the Prime Minister’s Office, who passed away on Sunday (Aug 18) evening.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he knew Rozaid since their younger years and even paid him a visit recently.

“His loss will surely be felt among those who were close to him. My condolences to his family. May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous,” he said in a social media post on Sunday.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin conveyed his condolences and prayed for Rozaid’s family to be strong.

“I received sad news that my friend, Allahyarham Rozaid Abdul Rahman, has passed away.

“He served as my press secretary during my tenure as the entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister from 2004 to 2008, and as higher education minister from 2008 to 2010.

“My deepest condolences to his family,” he said in a social media post.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil described Rozaid as someone who was dedicated and committed in carrying out his duties.

“He was friendly, always helped others and very respected.

“His passing is a big loss to the media industry and he will be sorely missed,” he said in a social media post.

Other ministers who conveyed their condolences were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek

“May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous,” they said in social media posts.

Rozaid, 59, passed away at his home in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya on Sunday evening.

He took up his post as the media and strategic communications director at the Prime Minister’s Office on May 23, 2023.

Rozaid was previously with The Star, with his last position as group consulting editor.

He was also previously group editor of Sinar Harian.

He started his career in the media as a cadet reporter for Utusan Malaysia in April 1984.

Funeral prayers will be held at Masjid Putra Heights, Subang Jaya at 8.30am on Monday (Aug 19) and the burial will be in Sungai Dua, Penang.
