Seth Meyers Sets New ‘Closer Look’ Primetime Special – MASHAHER

Seth Meyers is set to host a new “Closer Look Primetime” special on NBC.

The special will air on Sept. 11 at 10 p.m. ET/PT and will stream the next day on Peacock. The special will be focused on the first Presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, which will air on Sept. 10. Trump previously participated in a debate this election cycle against President Joe Biden, but this will be his first debate against Harris since Biden announced he would not seek reelection.

This is not the first time Meyers and his team have brought “Closer Look” to primetime, having previously aired a live primetime special in October 2020 ahead of that year’s U.S. Presidential election.

“Closer Look” currently airs as a regular segment on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” The segment has received significant praise for its blend of news, analysis, and humor. Per NBC, it has garnered more than 3 billion views online since it began. “Closer Look” is written by “Closer Look” head writer Sal Gentile, “Late Night” head writer Alex Baze, and Meyers.

“Late Night” is currently nominated for three Emmys, including outstanding talk series. The series is produced by Universal Television and Broadway Video. Lorne Michaels and Mike Shoemaker serve as executive producers.

News of the special comes during the opening days of the Democratic National Convention, where Harris will formally accept the party’s nomination to run for President. She and her running mate, Minnesota governor Tim Walz, have been on the campaign trail for weeks already, crisscrossing the country in an attempt to maintain momentum and enthusiasm Democrats have enjoyed since Biden announced he would be passing the torch to Harris.
