22-year-old Stephenson County man dies in tractor crash west of Freeport – MASHAHER

A Stephenson County man is dead after what authorities believe is a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor.

According to the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s personnel responded Sunday morning to a report of a tractor rolled over with a subject pinned underneath in the area of South Kent and West Kempel roads.

Upon arrival deputies found a 22-year-old man, later identified as Jacob Green, 22, of Kent, Illinois, unresponsive. There were no other vehicles or persons involved in the crash, officials said in a news release.

Authorities believe Green was driving an orange Allis-Chalmers tractor that entered the east ditch of South Kent Road just north of Kempel Road and that the tractor went down the steep embankment and rolled over pinning Green and causing fatal injuries.

Deputies responded the scene about 8:50 a.m. Sunday. They believe the crash occurred earlier that morning.

The Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pearl City Fire Department, Leamon’s Ambulance and the Stephenson County Coroner’s Office.
