Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut spoke exclusively to India Today, reacting to the Hema Committee Report’s findings, which exposed widespread sexual harassment faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. “They were hiding it for six years”, she said. Expressing her frustration with the current situation in the film industry, she said, “Same sexist cinema, promoting women violence, is doing better than ever. And, about this Kerala report, I have been talking about it for so long, but where did it go? It went nowhere.”
Kangana also expressed her disappointment with women in the industry for ‘promoting item numbers’. She said, “I am disappointed in women who do not promote other women’s work.”
