(KLFY) — Storm Team 10 and the National Hurricane Center are monitoring a weak tropical wave in the Central Atlantic for tropical development in the coming days.
This wave is producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity as it slowly moves westward toward the Caribbean Sea. Atmospheric conditions could be more conducive for tropical development as it gets close to the Lesser Antilles. The NHC has a 40% chance for tropical development in the next 7 days.
Forecast uncertainty is very high as we are in the initial stages of forecasting this tropical disturbance. Impacts to the U.S. or the Gulf Coast are unknown at this time. Global models are starting to recognize the possibility of a tropical system forming and then moving through the Caribbean Sea next week. The GFS model (shown above) showcases a tropical system near Cuba next Sunday, September 8th. The Euro Model is showing something similar too.
The next name on the list is Francine.
